UN WOMEN and Arab League (Joint Session) 2022 ZAMUN

Equal marital rights

The Arab world is facing criticism for their treatment of minority groups for as long as we have started to treat them equally. The group that is pertinent to this committee are women, especially their rights in relation to marriage. While according to reports, the situation is getting better, still numerous problems persist, such as forced or child marriage. The solutions to these problems are not quite clear, since on one hand there are laws that try to eradicate them but are unsuccessful, and on the other hand the elimination of some of these problems would go directly against the cultural fabric of the region. Therefore we believe that the joint session of the Arab League and UN WOMEN is necessary to tackle these issues with the knowledge and ability necessary to solve them.

Matúš Molčan

Dear delegates,

My name is Matúš Molčan and I will be co-chairing a joint session of UN WOMEN and Arab League at ZAMUN2022. With this MUN probably being my last after attending probably too many MUNs, I cannot imagine a better topic to go out on than women rights. I am excited to meet you all and I am looking forward to all of the fruitful debates.

Nina Štefúnová

Hi!

My name is Nina and even though you probably have no idea who I am or what my deal is, this year I have the honour of being a part of the ZAMUN 2022 secretariat team. This will be my first time organizing such an event, therefore the position of the Vice President of the General Assembly is a huge responsibility for me. I am certain that this will be a refreshing change and an amazing hybrid MUN, which you are guaranteed to enjoy after all the tiring months of quarantine and depression. Words can not even describe how excited I am to see all of you, regardless if it´s face-to-face or through the screens.
